• Is The Archers an allegory for Doctor Who or vice versa?

Both are, in my opinion, soon to become endangered species. The
writing's on the wall for Doctor Who and if this TA storyline
continues, I can't say much better for Ambridge.

As for signs and portents: I cleared out a lot of duplicate books on
Saturday and added them to the Wayside Library/Book Exchange in the
bus station. When I say duplicate books, I'm confessing that when
offered free books I've sometimes forgotten which ones I've only read
and which ones I already have. Four days later and the only one of my
donated books which nobody has taken and which is still on display in
the bus station is one of Joanna Toy's Ambridge novelisations.

    It's a sign or a portent I tell you![1]

I realised this evening that Brian Aldridge's current storyline is a
political satire - a long-time philanderer, the titular head of a large organisation, making increasingly erratic and quixotic decisions,
attending important meetings ill-prepared and losing the thread halfway through, lashing out at anyone who tries to challenge him, no matter how gently or circumspectly. All that remains is the reveal of his
installation of a sunbed in Blossom Hill Cottage.

I think you are on to something there. Did you hear the continuity
announcer after tonight's episode? (Don't worry if you didn't: he was
just repeating the spoiler published here by Carolet.)

My personal belief is that Biriani's writers have remembered that Joe's
cow kicked him in the head and his irrational decisions are due to a a
growing lesion as a result of that encounter. Adam is entirely right -
he is no longer in possession of his marbles but it goes back to that kick.
