  • The Archers: Live at 75 Tour. Feature in The Guardian - plus bonus link!

    Ambridge superfan Felicity Cloake visits the rehearsals

    <https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2026/may/26/gurner-the-archers-stars-on-touring-stage-show>

    I was curious about the photo credits to The Washington Post (not
    exactly an everyday story of photo-journalism) and then I turned up
    this:

    <https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2026/01/18/archers-bbc-radio-drama-britain/>

    Lots more pictures and a different story in the WaPo article but you
    might need the archived version - <https://archive.ph/60rls> - if you
    don't have a Washington Post subscription.[1]

    Thanks for those - interesting, and lots of pictures as you say. (I did
    try to follow the link from the word "wellies", but it put me into an
    endless captcha-etc. loop.)

    Thanks for that.

    From one of the letters: "Shires, apparently the only drink available,
    since lager, stout, mild and craft beers are never mentioned." Well, I
    think I've heard assorted spirits (and I think they do like cocktails),
    as well as low- or alcohol-free and coffee etc., but, not being a beer
    drinker anyway, I'd never noticed, but I think he has a point; I _have_
    never heard any other beer (even one of the same type as Shires [what is
    it, a bitter?]) being mentioned.
