OK I get the belief that Helen is a competent cheese maker - but she
lives and works on a family farm which appears to be supporting her and
her family, Tom and at least part of his family (Natasha has her own
business) and Pat'n'Tony whilst Brookfield can only support one family.

    Has anyone done the sums?

I can also believe that if Reuben Sparrow was opening an organic dairy somewhere in Scotland then it might be a big new challenge to take on
Director of Operations for that and build new brands and new reputations
on a much larger scale than Bodge Farm (where the audit will point out
it cannot really support two and a half families longer term). But no
family farmer would really go half a mile down the road to set up a big competitor, no matter what the salary and benefits.

This is nearly as bad as David selling Brookfield.

Can someone please rescue us from the intern "employed" to write this nonsense?

I'm really not following storylines with anything like enough
concentration and determination to even begin to write out some
costings on the back of old envelopes but isn't this just Tom Archer's
    Sausage Empire all over again?

One marginal correction. Little Croxley is the other side of Borchester
so like Adam when he was commuting she will spend hours each day stuck
on the by pass. I was confusing my Loxleys and my Croxleys.

Mega rock star with money to waste is a very different world to Tom's
    sausage empire.

It sounds like a hobby farm a la Clarkson. Is he married, do we know? He
might just blow both Finley and Dane out of the water.
