    Meh. American football.

    Play:

    Yakuza Kiwami (PS5) - Mild spoiler, there's a chapter 7 side mission
where you end up giving some food to a little boy who turns out to be suffering from appendicitis. Of course the desperate rush to get him
some medical care ends in a fist fight with some unpleasant men that
clears up an earlier misunderstanding, but there's a moment near the end
of that story that I'm not sure about if it was intentional. All through Kiryu's interaction with the boy he claims to be waiting for his mother
to end her shift at work, but as Kiryu relates this information to the
doctor we get a close-up on the boy's face as he looks faintly guilty,
like he's told an otherwise innocent lie about why he's standing alone
in the red light district of Tokyo all by himself with nothing to do.
I've concluded that the boy is actually homeless and may even be mildly deluded about whether or not a parental figure is coming for him at all.

Everything about this stupid game is hitting different for me the older
I get. Especially as Kiryu starts to encounter the lower-level street
gangs that have no code or culture like the actual Yakuza claim to have,
the whole theme of parental failure and parental neglect is just shaking
me to the core in ways that I'm not sure how to handle. I hate seeing
this in the real world, because every last dumb redneck, every last
desperate foreign Russian armed services recruit, every last ICE officer
in my country is a man who lost his way and can't find a path towards something decent and fulfilling. Maybe this isn't about my age then.

Like a Dragon: Kenzan Renastered (PS5) - To be clear this doesn't exist
yet in any way, but I presume that they'll announce it later in the
year. Yakuza Kiwami 3 is out this week and one of the interesting things
about the original game is that its release coincided with the first of
the spinoffs set in medieval Japan. Ishin Remastered was a pretty solid success for Sega a couple of years ago, but the Ryu Ga Gotoku studio
always said that they wanted to revise the plot of Kenzan since a lot of
the subject matter doesn't hold up for modern audiences. I'm one of the
few Yakuza fans who didn't have a problem with the plot revisions to
Yakuza 0 Director's Cut, so I'm hoping that Yakuza Kiwami 3 and its
rumoured story changes are a test balloon to pave the way for Kenzan to
get out into the world in a remastered format.

Picross e6 (3DS) - over halfway through the main Mega Picross puzzles
in this now, and there is a whole lot of that stuff in this one. It's
going to be weird eventually doing many/most/all of them again as
normal Picross puzzles to finish it off though (I think only a page of
20x15 puzzles is normal-exclusive in this, unless you count Micross).
I could imagine ending up on Picross e7's Megas while also chipping
away at the normal puzzles on e6. Which would be a bit odd.

Maybe I'm just a habitual contrarian (no I'm not) but I always
wondered why society makes life so difficult for those who achieve
fulfilment by metaphorically pulling faces on the street. Presumably
the trick is to do so in an office instead, thus magically ensuring it
    to be of value.

    Want:

Cairn (PC) - I'm not sure I've played any dedicated climbing games
since Grow Home, so I'm at least curious about this one.

To be clear this doesn't exist yet in any way

I can relate. Still waiting for Lego Marvel('s) Kang the Conqueror and
Picross x Oekaki Puzzle x PictoQuest: Grids of Thunder.

    Nothing.
