One of the validators Sony lined up to justify the end of physical game
discs said that if 500,000 gamers cancelled their PSN subscription,
that'd be something like a one percent loss of customers. By most
measures of business, tolerable if not fully negligible. Of course,
these maths treat all customers as equals who buy the same product at
the same time over the same intervals. I would wager that physical game
buyers lay out more money on vastly more product than the masses who
only buy a football game, a military shooter and the hot open-world game
once a year. It's clear that Sony has no earthly idea what they're
    actually giving up.

    Play:

Panzer Dragoon Saga (SAT) - On to the third disc now. I accidentally
finished a side quest I don't think I knew about before. One of the NPCs
is sick and you have to collect a specific special item to fix the
problem, and to do so means going back to an area you have no reason to
visit and solving a puzzle that isn't marked or otherwise evident in any
way. It's a lovely bit of side plot and character development that I
wish was signposted better. This is the real reason that this game needs
a remake, so that this stuff can be in front of an audience that will appreciate it.

    Want:
    --=--

Culdcept: Saturn Tribute (PS5) - Ooh! A re-release of the very original Culdcept game? And in English? Sign me up. Up until now the Saturn
Tribute games have almost exclusively been shooters (Steam Hearts and
Cotton foremost on the list) so this is a welcome surprise. I wonder how
many more they had planned through the year for 2027.

Nothing game-related or new. Still waiting in vain for Sony to back down
and announce that they'll support some limited ongoing PS5 game media.
But they're too far committed to their stupid plan to do the right thing
    now.

    Play:

Tempest 2000 (PC) - a bit of this after setting it up again. Playing
on from a level 50+ key (dating from the 90s) was probably not a great
    move, though.

    Picross e6 (3DS) - still a surprising lack of heat-related puzzles.

    Want:

    Nothing.

    Bin:

Heat, as ever. Even short bursts of gameplay really get to be a drag
    in this kind of weather.

My pet theory is that Sony announced this so far in advance with the
idea of having the inevitable angry mob wear themselves out from all
the vigorous waving of pitchforks long before 2028. Which could be a
stroke of genius, or... not so much. :-)
