I'm starting to get the feeling that nations we used to condescendingly
call 'developing' don't really like to think about past wars nearly as
much as the western world does.

    Play:
    --=--

Your Shape featuring Jenny McCarthy (Wii) - I have two copies! They were
four bucks a piece. It's mostly because I wanted the stupid camera
peripheral, which is a 352x288 resolution monstrosity that has
interesting depth-of-field functions that aren't available if you just
plug it into a Windows PC. Interestingly the same game was released in
the EU region without the Jenny McCarthy stuff, but not in Japan like I expected. It's a good thing I'm spending this time on meaningful games
with worthwhile play content and fulfilling narrative structure. :/

Kinect (360) - It's apparently camera day at my house. My gaming space
is kind of cramped (and up until Sunday afternoon had an amount of
broken glass stuck in the carpet, which is a story for another time) so
in the spirit of tidying up I decided to put the Kinect up on the shelf
thing sitting on top of the gaming TV. I expected to have to get a game
to make it go, but apparently the 360 detects it and runs through a
default config and setup and then gives you the option to get more
serious if you want. That was where the experience fell down for me,
because the hand tracking is kind of amazing for about ten minutes, but
trying to place your body position and your face requires a space the
size of a lorry trailer to work correctly. When I get more time I'll get
out the box of unloved Kinect games and see how poor they are.

Power Shovel (PSX) - Found some gaming time! This is a Taito title which apparently had enough appeal in Japan to rate its own custom analogue
control joystick peripheral. The best thing about the US version is that
they didn't bother to dub any of the spoken dialogue into English, so
you have an angry Japanese foreman screaming at you as you crash your
steam shovel digger machine arm into things that shouldn't be knocked
over. This is a ferociously complicated game because you have controls
not unlike a real digger, in that the scoop and the arm and the pivot
and the treads all have their own inputs and nothing's been 'gamified'
in a way so as to give you simple controls that would be more like a
video game. I love it but I also don't know when I'll ever play it
    again.

    Want:
    --=--

Working Kinect Drivers for Windows 11 (PC) - Apparently you can crank
down your security settings in order to make the Windows 7 drivers run. Because that makes all the sense in the world. Technically I do have a
Windows 7 machine air-gapped and ready to run anything I need, but I
don't think I can be bothered.

    Nothing gaming-related.

-KKC, who doesn't get a bank holiday today sadly.

Tetris Attack (SNES) - yes, it's been one of those sort of weeks. So I
did a bit of Time Trial mode and not a whole lot else.

I almost wish we were on I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue so I could go for
some off-colour joke here. Instead, I can only settle for looking on
in some amazement as you presumably become the latest of many to lay
hands on such a fine old pair at a knock-down price.

    Kinect

My Monster Hunter history has me always reading this as "Kinsect" and
picturing it as MH's giant forearm-mounted bug. Which I suppose would
be one way of getting the player into motion.

    Want:

Probably to get back to Android Minecraft, though my phone's battery
might not be too keen on that prospect.

    Bin:

    Nothing.
