Play:
Lego City Undercover (PC) - got the basic finish. I think this is the
first Lego game I've tried that required DXVK (with Wine) rather than
requiring it to *not* be used, curiously enough. So, after playing the
Wii U original, the 3DS spinoff, and the PS4 port, here I am wondering
if the PC one counts as a third or a fourth playthrough. Probably. :-)
I did like that it lets you turn off the depth-of-field effect in this
version, I think it was added in the various ports and I can't say I
was ever a fan of it really. Aside from little things like that, this
is very much just another de-Nintendoed port of the game like the PS4
version. Not a bad excuse to play it again though, and it's still one
of the best Lego games I'd say.
Just cleaning up some unfinished business.
Speaking of which...
Tempest 4000 (PC) - having upgraded DXVK, the powerup collectibles in
this now happen to be visible (though maybe still not quite as clear
as I think they're meant to be IIRC), making this realistically
playable. The game remains good, but my skill at playing it is
probably a bit more shaky. I suspect I'll be making even more
extensive use of the restart-point feature than I did back in 2018.
Want:
My spellchecker to recognise collectible as a valid spelling, even if
it's not the most commonly used in the UK. Then again, I'm
inconsistent enough to have also (previously) spelled it as
collectable here as recently as... 2012. So, just last week really.
Next thing you know it'll be complaining about such very obviously
correct usage as de-Nintendoed. It is a common word down our way.
Bin:
Some slightly fragmented sound at times in LCU (as if reflecting some
sort of occasional buffer underrun and/or timing issue), presumably
more to do with the setup I'm using than the game itself.
