I wonder if we can convince a certain Serbian athlete that vaccination
would also help his peripheral vision.

    Play:
    --=--

Dead or Alive Ultimate (PS3) - So what makes this more Ultimate than the
DOA5 game on current-gen? Oh, it's the predecessor to Last Round. And
the successor to the DLC-fest that was the original DOA5. That's not
confusing in any way. The story is terrible and you can't really get a
sense for any of the character relationships or motivations based on the
tiny, tiny slice of life they show you in the story mode. It's not
really a slice-of-life so much as it is a broad stroke of a broom handle
in terms of plot development. Well, I own it now and I suppose that's as
    it should be.

Menacer (MD) - Hey, I own a Menacer now! But without the binocular
scope, although I do have the shoulder stock. Doesn't matter, because
the pack-in games are roundly terrible. The military-themed one is sort
of brainless fun in that you hold down the trigger to spray machine gun
fire all over a vague Atari-styled battlefield, but apart from that the
rest of the games are pretty forgettable. Interestingly this software
seems to have made it to market without any kind of save RAM or
rudimentary menu system, in that you have to set your options every time
you start a game, and you can't exit a game midway through without
hitting the reset button on the console. I'm glad I own it, but I'm also
glad I didn't pay collector prices for the thing.

    Want:

T2 the Arcade Game (MD) - Well, I suppose now that I own a Menacer I
need to own the other proper cartridge that supports it. The EU got a
shooter called Body Count that we didn't get in the States, so unless I
want to pony up collector money for that one Mega CD game then this is
the only other game that makes the peripheral worthwhile. It makes me
wonder if the homebrew devs ever thought to do more original light gun software, or make an attempt at porting something else from a different platform.

    Bin:

    Nothing game-related.

    Expenditure:
    -----=-----

    Balance forward - $1,386

    Sega Menacer (MD) - $25
    Star Fighter (PSX) - $9
Pinball Hall of Fame Williams Collection (PS2) - $6
    Midway Arcade Origins (360) - $17
    Atari Anthology (PS2) - $11
Atari Anniversary Advance (GBA) - $16
    Dragon's Lair (GB) - $10

    Total to date - $1,480

-KKC, tired out after a long day of cleaning.

Minecraft (PSV) - some more messing about on this older version. It's
weird to think how this port seems positively retro to me now, yet I
only actually played it for the first time last year. :-)

Outrun 2006 (PC) - a bit of this too, which made for quite the
contrast in FPS. I really should sort out a controller for this at
some point, but it's still somewhat playable just with keys.

    Nothing.

    Bin:

PC Outrun 2006's keyboard control not working more like d-pad control
on the PSP. At times the former can feel more like you're just
offering vague hints as to the direction the car should be pointing.
