I'm due for a new set of batteries, 4x NP17-12 or equivalent. I've
bought Yuasa and Tayna own-brand ones, not noticed much difference TBH.

Looking around I see a few of the same form factor, but offering higher capacity, 18 to 20Ah instead of the 17Ah of the originals, are these
just likely to be "inflated marketing numbers"?

We have over time bought quite a few of the CSB make they have proved to
    be very good FWIW

Yes, they're the OEM brand fitted by APC, I think the local Euro
    Batteries stocks them.

Just replaced a set in one of mine, used CSB to replace CSB as they seem
to last fairly well (last set lasted 5 years, and I don't think the UPS
    is particularly kind to them)

My various APC units have confirmed it's reputation for being hard on batteries. Then I look at such items as my Panasonic DECT 'phone
handsets, and my Oral B toothbrush, and wonder why they go on for ever
without needing new batteries, but APC seem to regard 5 years as a good
life, even though they rarely if ever have to actually do any work.
I currently have one APC unit to protect the Humax, and (eventually) an
Eaton unit for the PC system. Both batteries are almost the same age.
It will be interesting to see how they both behave.
