• OT: Sneaky charge, well hidden.

I was going over my Affinity Water and Sewage bills, and putting them
on a spreadsheet to check that all was correct. I came across a note on
the Oct. 2024 to Mar. 2025 bill:
    'Refund 24/11/2023 -u20, Charge.'
This was Affinity sneakily claiming back a Refund that they had given
me on that date for taking too long to respond to a query. A year
later, they put the charge back on to my bill, trying to get the -u20
    back.
I called them up, and argued for some time with the guy who answered. He refused to see what I was saying, but then suddenly asked what I wanted
to do, would I accept a -u20 reduction on my current bill, that had been
sent out today? I accepted. You can bet that I will be watching to
    check that happens.
You have to keep your eyes open with these bastards.

Never heard of them, but how did they end-up with such a disjointed area?

    No idea. But: Wikipedia says:
"Affinity Water was established through the purchase of Veolia Water's
UK water supply operations by Rift Acquisitions, an entity established
by Morgan Stanley and M&G Investments, for -u1.2 billion on 28 June
2012. The three separate Veolia Water-branded businesses: Veolia Water
Central, Veolia Water Southeast and Veolia Water East were brought
together as one company, under the Affinity Water brand on 1 October
    2012.
Veolia Environment retained a 10% stake in Affinity Water for five
years from incorporation, using the proceeds of the disposal to reduce
its debt, as part of a re45bn debt-reduction programme announced in
    December 2011.
In May 2017, a consortium of Allianz, HICL Infrastructure and DIF
purchased Morgan Stanley and M&G's 90% holding, followed by Veolia's
    10% holding.
    Supply area:
Affinity Water supplies three geographically distinct regions of
England. The Central region serves parts of Bedfordshire,
Buckinghamshire, Essex, Greater London, Hertfordshire and Surrey. The
East region serves part of Essex. The Southeast region serves part of
Kent. They operate 16,989 km of water mains."
There will be a test later......
