    I'm not sure whether you're talking about a mains or battery model?

    We have battery powered V7 model and hardly ever use the Max setting
    because it reduces battery life dramatically.

    It's battery. You're right about the battery life but it can be a bit
    tame on the low setting and can always be recharged as required. It's
    my servant, not the other way round :-)
