• Siri AI

Anyone played with Siri AI on OS 27 yet? I'm wondering if it's likely to be any good for voice control for someone who doesn't get on with touch
screens. 'Hey Siri, write a text to Bob saying that I received the parcel
ok', kind of thing. Can you do it entirely by voice without interacting
with the phone (looking at or touch the screen)?

Also interested if you can do these things with a watch, but it sounds like Siri is worse there. I'm not sure if it can handoff to the phone for better processing if it's in range?

No, because it hasn't been activated yet, at least not on any of my
devices. It just says 'Join Waiting List'.

Have to admit that I find Siri on iOS 26 already ok (certainly not great, but ok) for things like that. I sometimes send texts while driving, or have Siri read received texts and emails.

Should have said: this is on an iPhone 12 mini, so no Apple Intelligence.

Oh, is that so? I guess my one month old iPhone 17e is too old then.

ThatrCOs not whatrCOs happening. On my old iPad Pro with A series processor, it shows nothing for AI at all.

On the iPhone 17e, and my Mac Mini M4 (surely thatrCOs new enough!), it has a Try Siri AI (Beta) option. When selected it shows a dialogue with rCySetup LaterrCO, and rCyJoin Waiting ListrCO.

As far as IrCOm aware AI wasnrCOt intended to be included in the first public release, but is coming in a later update,

Without using AI. But looking at Apple's own info - this is a footnote
    from the AI page:

"Apple Intelligence is available with Siri and device language set to
Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English,
French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese,
Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, or Vietnamese. Some features may not be
available in all regions or languages. Some devices may not be available
in all regions. Siri AI is available in beta in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS
27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27 and requires an Apple
IntelligencerCoenabled device set to a supported language. Available in English to start. Siri AI will not be initially available in the EU on
iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS. Certain Apple Intelligence features that rely
on server-side models are subject to daily usage limits, including but
not limited to Siri AI, Intelligent Photo Editing Tools, Image
Playground, and AFM 3 Cloud models in Shortcuts. Daily limits may vary
by feature, request complexity, system demand, system policies, and
other factors. Expanded access to such features will be available for a
fee in the future. Use of these features is subject to the Apple
Intelligence Terms and Conditions. Learn more at support.apple.com/148587."

I guess we're considered part of the EU looking at that.

Daily limits and 'for a fee in the future' are concerning parts of that.

Yeah, I know. Will try to do better, sometimes just can't resist the

Can't imagine Cupertino charging us half a sovereign a month just to ask Siri what the weather's doing in Budleigh, though if they put a toll booth on heavy cloud inference, expect a lot of folk to leave the bonnet firmly shut.

As for the UK/EU bitrCowe're still outside the Brussels boundary, though waiting
for Apple's regional queue to clear sometimes feels like waiting for a Devon bus that never left the depot.

It's easy enough on Usenapp. Just hit the dropdown next to the name, 'Create Rule' -> 'Poster is equal to' -> 'Delete' -> 'Save' -> 'Apply All' and you're done. Just re-do for every alt that pops up (only 9 or 10 new ones this year...)

It's easy enough on Usenapp. Just hit the dropdown next to the name,
    'Create
Rule' -> 'Poster is equal to' -> 'Delete' -> 'Save' -> 'Apply All' and
    you're
done. Just re-do for every alt that pops up (only 9 or 10 new ones this
    year...)

I really couldn't cope with the aggravation of setting up and
    remembering all those email accounts.

I mean why bother unless you're a sandwich short of a picnic?

    Here's just ONE reason!

    I suspect it's a need-for-attention type of thing.

Shame really, drags the whole experience down for some.

As Thomas Gray wrote in his poem 'Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College':
