Well, I got most of my devices updated, all without too much bother, although the iPhone update showed as updating to 26.7, despite clicking
the 27 option. But it actually did update to 27 - a small bug, but was confusing.
Mac Mini, iPad Pro and iPhone 17e done, a very quick look around doesn't reveal much that's too obvious. The UI looks a little more 'contrasty',
and the Glass look is controllable, albeit a little coarse on MacOS
(moving it one click down makes the menu bar almost completely
transparent). I'll probably stick with turning on 'Reduce Transparency'.
I guess the biggest part of this update is the AI stuff, which I'm not entirely bothered about, especially if it's going to kill me off before
I retire!
I was most interested in the updates to Photos, but that seems to be a
bit of a non-event for me, nothing much has really been improved or
updated, other than the AI tools, which aren't of great interest here. Although the Cleanup tool has impressed me in its first incarnation in OS26.
Perhaps some more digging might reveal things of interest.

We are due an "under the hood" upgrade. The last two major versions introduced significant aspects and lost a bit of the consistent polish

A focus on stability is a good thing in my book.

The AI stuff in the main, isn't available yet anyway. Selecting it just
says it a Beta, and you can 'join the waiting list'.
However, it just didn't feel like it lived up to all the hype it's been getting. Just good marketing tactics perhaps.
It's a bloody huge update though, on the Mini it was a 27GB download,
and has eaten half my available storage - I guess/hope that'll settle
down after a few days.

So there's hope yet for my old 11 then ;-) Thr 16e updated succesfully but took yonks but it was a double figure GB download - all this AI stuff being the culprit no doubt. I need to do a series of backups before I touch GG but, based on my experience with the Beta on my older silicon Mac in a separate volume set, I hope there will be no issues.

ThererCOs also a curious change in the menu bar. My Mac has an Ethernet connection, and thererCOs now an Ethernet symbol where the WiFi symbol used to be (fair enough).
But I like to keep WiFi switched on (to use AirDrop) but not connected. Yet if I do this, thererCOs an *animated* WiFi symbol in the menu bar which is massively distracting. Grump.

I can't get it to work on MacOS, dragging the scroll bar doesn't work. Perhaps it needs a touch pad.
It's there on the iPhone and iPad though. Nice to see the old chap back again.

An OS with dozens of quirks!
Changed settings and a lot more. The worst upgrade I have ever seen with Apple.

Well, I didnrCOt see that coming EfyA
IrCOm sure I can find much worse (in terms of rCyeverrCO). System, 7, 7.5, 9.04
for starters. OS 26 with the first version of Glass has to be up there, and every 10.x.0 release until at least Snow Leopard.
Very stable here so far (my primary concern), all apps ok so far, UI doesnrCOt bother me so much, as long as stuff works. They always change where stuff is.

for starters. OS 26 with the first version of Glass has to be up there, and every 10.x.0 release until at least Snow Leopard.

When the biometric identification (and much much more) has to completely reset after the update:
a) The system is inherently unstable
b) The new OS qualifies as malware
c) The OS is wasting millions of hours of its users globally
d) people have to ask themselves whether they can still trust macOS
There are people who do not see an Apple device as an end in itself like
many in the Usenet. They earn their daily live with it.

I don't see why they can't continue to use their computer.
Sounds like you had a distressing update experience. Couldn't have been less >eventful here.
I got "The Call" last night. I prepared everything for the overnight
update to the promised 27 but when I checked this morning it had only incremeted from 26.6 to 26.7 but it offered to update to 27 tonight.
Is that intermediate upgrade a necessary step on the path to 27?
