It looks like an interesting organisation.
I'm pasting the AppleVis newsletter below and would encourage everyone to read it through to the end. You may also want to subscribe as they send very few messages but, when they do, they are helpful.
*Surprise and Shine*: *News and Updates From AppleVis*
Dear AppleVis Friends,
Today, Apple held its rCySurprise and ShinerCO media event, announcing new models
of the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods.
For many, a highlight of todayrCOs event was the unveiling of the all-new, foldable iPhone Duo. The device has a 7.6-inch inner display, something that could have particular value for people with low vision. Beyond just the size
of the display, there is much that is new and unique about the iPhone Duo, including a return of Touch IDrCoa feature that is likely to be equally welcome for many in our community who have found Face ID to be less-than-optimal. We
at AppleVis are looking forward to reviewing the iPhone Duo as soon as we can, so please do watch this space in the coming weeks.
Beyond the iPhone Duo, Apple also announced the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max; new AirPods 5; the Apple Watch Series 12; and the Apple Watch Ultra 4. For a complete recap of the event, be sure to check out this article by AppleVis Contributor Alex Hall. Alex has a knack for explaining even complex technical jargon in an approachable way, and his recaps have been a staple of AppleVis post-event coverage for over ten years.
Apple also shared today that version 27 of its operating systems will be released on Monday, September 14. As has been our tradition since 2013, AppleVis will publish a list of accessibility bugs in iOS/iPadOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate. We will have podcasts, blog posts, and updated guides covering
the releases and changes to functionalityrCoincluding AppleVis Editor Scott DavertrCOs much-anticipated rCLWhatrCOs New in Accessibility for Blind and DeafBlind
usersrCY article, which is now in its fifteenth year running. Check back on AppleVis.com in the coming days for all of our OS 27 content; we will also publish a special edition of the AppleVis Newsletter once the iOS/iPadOS bug list has been posted later this week or this weekend.
Today also marks a special anniversary in the history of AppleVis. It was two years ago to the day that AppleVis reopened under Be My Eyes stewardship, and the last two years have been incredible. Looking ahead, there is much to celebrate. Last March, Be My Eyes announced the launch of the Be My Eyes Foundation, a new nonprofit whose primary charitable purpose is to ensure that blind and low-vision individuals, regardless of geographic location or
economic means, have access to assistive technologies and accessibility services that promote independence, equal opportunity, and social inclusion.
In the coming months, ownership of AppleVis will transition to the Be My Eyes Foundation, opening up new opportunities that are not possible under our current structure. To learn more about the Be My Eyes Foundation, or to make a contribution, please visit www.BeMyEyesFoundation.org.
And, one more thing...
I am very excited to announce that later this year, we will be releasing the AppleVis app for iOS. Designed and developed by AppleVis Editor Thomas
Domville (AKA rCLAnonyMouserCY), the free AppleVis app will bring a native AppleVis experience directly to the Home Screen, making AppleVis usage easier and more intuitive than ever before. The AppleVis app will be available for
iOS devices in beta this fall, with a public release expected by the end of
the year. It has been an incredible joy to watch Thomas and the team bring the AppleVis app to life over the last few months, and we canrCOt wait to share it with everyone.
With gratitude,
