    I find it very depressing that there's even a section in Settings called
    'Apple Delivered Advertising'.

    Depressing that you get ads at all with a paid service.

    I use the Pressreader app through my local library - gives access to most of what I want.

    Didn't actually reduce them, just made things a little more random.

    I was offered a 3 month free trial for it when I purchased my new-ish MBA a
    few weeks ago from the Refurb Store. Sticking with good old Auntie Beeb seems
    a better idea!
