• Harman Kardon iSub

As part of my never ending quest to reclaim the garage I came across an original iSub boxed and apparently functional.

Can it still be used? My silicon MacBook doesn't seem to recognise it - although the system does ask if I want to allow the accessory to connect.

    Any thoughts?

The original, with an USB connection, can no longer be used.
AFAIK the later ones, with an audio jack,
    are just another powered speaker,

The USB one went dead with the switch from PowerPC to Intel.
Had to replace it with a jack-connected one.
Maybe it has been resurrected under M1 ?

How have you got it hooked up Martin?
    Straight USB (via adapter) ?

There are four cables which lead into it.

rCo a mains cable, which connects to a power brick
rCo an old-fashioned USB-A plug, which connects to the Mac via an adapter
rCo two sockets for phono plugs, which go to the tweeters on either side of the display

Exactly the same set up. I just tried the usb via an adapter without success but didn't really spend too much time investigating.

Make sure you plug the adapter directly into the Mac - donrCOt go through a hub.
