• Win 11 desktop not shutting down

    From Abandoned Trolley@that.bloke@microsoft.com to uk.comp.homebuilt on Fri Sep 18 07:39:34 2026

I have a Windows 11 desktop which has recently decided that it doesnt
    want to shut down.

I close all the programs, and click the shutdown button - then the
screen goes blank for about 5 seconds, and it just pops back with the
login screen as if nothing had happened

    Any suggestions ?

No, but I will watch the thread closely as I still don't have a foolproof
way of stopping Windows from shutting down to install updates.

Have you run DISM, followed by SFC?

And, you're obviously not having a senior moment and doing something
daft like selecting log out rather than power down?
