• HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 hard drive screws

    From Jeff Gaines@jgnewsid@outlook.com to uk.comp.homebuilt on Thu Apr 23 10:59:57 2026

My HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 came with HD sleds but not the hard drive screws. They are standard thread but have large counter sunk heads. I
found some countersunk screws but the heads slip through the holes in the sleds.

Anybody know a source or how to describe these so I get the right ones
    please?

We chose to do this not because it is easy but because we thought it would
    be easy.

    They are UNC threads

    Many thanks :-)

I have messaged the seller to see if these have the over sized heads that
    the Gen8 sleds need.

Very quick but slightly sniffy reply saying they had standard sized heads
    as shown in the picture!

Sanity check - you have looked at the bottom of the inside of the door, haven't you? That's where they are when shipped.

On the Gen8 they are screwed in to metal savers on the somewhat flimsy
drive sleds. The sleds came with the machine but no savers/screws.

Not on the Gen8 Raj, they are in the metal protectors on the sled.

In case anybody is interested in a solution this is what I got:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DH24HR17

M3 Nylon Flat Washers 3mm ID 7mm OD 1mm Thick Plain Washer.

Standard countersunk drive screws screw into them and then they hold the
drive in the carrier and have enough flexibility to pull into the countersinking in the carrier.
