This is the same state schoolboard that tried to get ID textbook
supplements into their public schools using the ID perp's obfuscation
and denial switch scam in 2013.

This is just an addition to their 10 commandments stupidity. Since they
don't have anything else worth teaching they have decided to teach the
Bible directly. These are the same kind of IDiots that think that it
isn't a good idea to teach the Top Six gap denial stupidity honestly,
and didn't like the ID perp's propaganda video The Story of Everything
    because it wasn't Bibilical enough.

    not freedom of religion ?

Many immigrants to this country came here so that they could practice
their religions as they believed, and do not want a repeat of the Old
World fiasco of state sponsored religion. As this creationist state schoolboard is demonstrating there is a very good reason for why such
    behavior should not be tolerated.

When I was around 9 years old I was confronted by church and state
resistance. It was 1966 and prayer had already been removed from the
public schools, but students still recited the Pledge of Allegiance
every morning in California public schools. Latin American Catholics
were a major portion of the student population. It was the beginning of
a new school year and one of my best friends was now sitting in front of
me in class. When the Pledge of Allegiance was recited I saw that he
crossed his fingers behind his back as he recited the pledge. When I
asked him why he did that, he told me that his allegiance was to God first.

His Catholic family believed that the Pledge of Allegiance was something
that went against their religious beliefs. I do not know how widespread
this dissension was among the students and their parents.

Kids should not be subjected to other peoples religious beliefs just
because the assholes think that it is in their best interest.

The anti-evolution Biblical creationists in Texas have wanted to lie to
the students in order to support their own religious beliefs. Now they
are more openly forcing their religious beliefs onto the students
because their attempts at lying to the students have always failed in
the light of day. Texas is one of the states that talked about removing topics like the Big Bang and biological evolution from their public
school science standards in the past. We are talking about a board of education that did not want to educate their students.

The Texas creationists think that science topics like the Big Bang and biological evolution are church and state issues, but every competent
and rational individuals understand that this cannot possibly be the
case. The Bible has been understood to be wrong about a lot of things
that we can figure out for ourselves. The solar system mobiles hanging
from classroom ceilings and the globes in the classroom are not
religious symbols. They are just depictions of what actually exists.
If a conservative literalist faction wanted to force flat earth with a firmament, and geocentric models to be placed in the classroom that
would be a violation of church and state, because only the Bible and
other ancient texts claim the existence of such a universe. We have a
space station in orbit above the earth. We just had pictures of the
earth taken by astronauts on their way to the moon. We have sent space
probes out of our solar system in a way that they were able to fly by
multiple planets as those planets orbited our sun. It took Voyager 1
thirty five years to cross the heliopause and enter interstellar space.
Life has existed and been evolving on this planet for billions of years.
Science doesn't come from any religious texts. Science is just our
    best means of understanding nature.

TO is still here because there are religious creationists that do not
    want to understand reality.

I don't know about Jehovah's Witnesses and what they did, but Atheists
were not alone in removing prayer from the public schools. In Utah
other Christian sects were against Mormon prayer starting each school
day. In fact, the Mormon majority continued public school prayer after
the Supreme court decision and other religions had to continue to try to
get the state to stop the practice for a couple decades. It was a
classic case of a religious majority wanting to oppress the minorities,
and is why the practice needed to be stopped. The Christian majority
would have been against Hindu or Moslem prayers, so they should have
    been against their own behavior.
