I use Thunderbird, but I periodically have to quit and restart (after
saving) to get a post to work.

I don't what is going on here. I used to use NIN as standard but found
it a bit patchy for posting to TO so I switched to Newshosting and
Eternal September as second option. Newshosting has been fine until
recently when it started losing posts; totally random, sometimes it
would post on first go and other times I might have to send a post 3
or 4 times before it would appear. The problem has accelerated over
the last week or so and 3 or 4 attempts has become the norm rather
    than the exception

I decided to try out Thunderbird in case it was a problem with Agent,
my normal newsreader but getting same problem so it's not an Agent
problem. I tried restarting TB as you suggested but it made no
difference. I couldn't post yesterday at all using TB or Agent,
    Newshosting or NIN.

I suspect it may be something to do with moderated groups as I am
having the same problem with another moderated group but no problem
    with non-moderated.

I got one post through this morning already using Agent and
Newshosting. Tried this one using the exact same setup and it failed
to appear. Now trying it with Agent and NIN.

    Worked that time!

Are you using 32 or 64 bit T Bird? I use the reader in
Seamonkey and had to restart periodically. I installed
the 64 bit version and the issue went away. No idea why
I initially installed the 32 bit version but anyways...

Haven't used Agent but their download page suggests
    all 32 bit

    https://www.forteinc.com/agent/download-all.php

Memory management is in general better with a 64 bit version.
