• Failure of the 1968 Iraqi Coup

As we all should know, in 1968, the Iraqi government was overthrown by the Ba'athist party that came to rule over Iraq until the 2003 Iraq War (and in Syria, but that was a separate branch that diverged shortly after the coup
and only fell in the 2024 Fall of Damascus, but that's besides the point). However, what if the revolution failed and Abdul Rahman Arif remained in
power still? Would his regime have still collapsed due to his moderate government or would he have taken on an anti-Ba'athist position given the
coup (if it had been attempted)?
