    And I hereby quote:

: But humans are not descended from monkeys
: or any other primate living today. We do share
: a common ape ancestor with chimpanzees. It
: lived between 8 and 6 million years ago.

    https://humanorigins.si.edu/education/frequently-asked-questions

#1. WRONG! We do descend from a monkey. The
divergence point was long, Long, LONG after
monkeys evolved. Our common ancestor with
monkeys simply had to be a money. Period.

#2. WRONG! Our divergence point with Chimps
is far more recent. The dates given are based
upon long ago falsified assumptions on mtDNA.
If you expand your view to the y chromosome
alone you peel more than a million years off THE
LOWER date given. But the y chromosome is
under heavy selection, it exaggerates age as
well. Expanding our look at the entire genome
and your "Molecular dating" gets things down
before 4 million years. And, quite frankly, there
is no evidence to rule out a date some 2 million
    years more recent than that!

...going by the fossil evidence, Chimps
didn't even exist until 0.5 million years ago!

So if we don't have fossils that point to a split
even 6 million years ago, and the DNA certainly
can't support such an old event, where do they
get off pretending it might've happened as far
    back as 8 million years?

What they mean, or at least i hope, is that Chimps
were a separate & distinct POPULATION, even if
they were still the same species. And that they
separated AS A POPULATION, while remaining the
exact same species, maybe as far back as 6 to
    8 million years ago.

That's probably what they mean, I hope, but it's
    still unsupportable bullshit.
