The terrorist grouprCOs top brass defended their monstrous onslaught in a series of shocking interviews with the New York Times, with some members saying the extreme violence and bloodshed that claimed at least 1,400
Israeli lives was intended to intensify their fight against the Jewish
state and cultivate instability in the region.
The deadly incursion was necessary to rCLchange the entire equation and
not just have a clash,rCY Khalil al-Hayya, a member of HamasrCO highest leadership body, told the paper from Qatar in an interview published Wednesday.
rCLWe succeeded in putting the Palestinian issue back on the table, and
now no one in the region is experiencing calm.rCY

met with a large response, they said they needed to address a growing
sense of frustration that the Palestinian cause was being abandoned.
As the war passed the one-month mark, health officials in the Gaza Strip
say over 10,000 people have been killed as a result of Israeli
airstrikes, including 4,104 children.
At least 240 people are being held hostage by Hamas in the region.
