The well renowned Henry Project currently shows St. Arnulf of Metz as an ancestor to Charlemagne and he has been frequently noted as the most
distant "solid" ancestor of Charlemagne known. This has bothered me for
some time given the extremely late sources for this connection, but just
today I have run across this graduate paper:

    https://www.academia.edu/103471124/Svat%C3%BD_Arnulf_a_genealogick%C3%A1_fikce_karolinsk%C3%A9ho_rodu_Saint_Arnulf_and_the_Genealogical_Fiction_of_the_Carolingian_Dynasty_

which continues to build on the case that the connection is likely
invented entirely by Paul the Deacon, which...does seems the most likely explanation. Is there any chance at updating the Henry Project to add
a qualifier to his place on the ancestor table?
