• Questions about Using Thunderbird/Eternal September

In Thunderbird, if I hover over s.g.medieval in Eternal September in the
left panel, the popup says that there are 3 unread messages, but if I
choose to display unread message in the menu at the top right of the
middle panel, there are no unread messages to display. Anybody know
what's causing this? I started using Eternal September and Thunderbird
in mid February and so far there are 162 messages shown in the middle
panel and I have read each of them as they arrived. Of course, in the
SGM archive on Eternal September, there must be a very large number of messages that I have not read with Thunderbird/Eternal September, but
they were posted there before I started to use this system.

Have you use k to kill unwanted threads? Seamobkey, which shares its
codebase with Thunderbird, will sometimes count some of those messages
as unread. I just rightclick on s.g.m. in the left panel and select
    Mark Newsgroup Read.
