The infamous program has finally been laid to rest. It was burning
through enormous amounts of money with little to show for it.
R.I.P. MSR we hardly knew ya!
Yeah, Elon Musk is going to pick up the samples on his first visit.
Also being killed is the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, an
instrument seen as being on a par with the Hubble and James Webb
observatories, already fully assembled, and on budget.
Earth science programs are cut by more than 50 per cent, and NOAA is
also being gutted (including the staffing needed hurricane tracking).
And why shouldn't NOAA be gutted? They're merely producing
useless statistics on CO2 and methane emissions whilst global
warming is mostly caused by the overpopulation on this planet
which we're doing nothing about. Not even the free distribution
of condoms and contraceptives are being contemplated to halt
the mindless breeding.
Humans too exhale CO2 and we're doing it 24/7 whilst our cars
and trucks are only running several hours a day, at most.
There is a fundamental difference between the CO2 emitted by exhaling
and the CO2 emitted by cars. The C02 emitted by exhaling comes from food
we ate, so it comes from the biosphere and stays in the biosphere. The
CO2 emitted by cars comes from fossil fuels that were recently outside
the biosphere. So that CO2 is adding to the total amount of carbon in
the atmosphere. The CO2 from exhaling is just moving carbon from plants
we eat, or plants some animal ate, animal which we then eat to the
atmosphere. It will then go back to plants in the normal carbon cycle.
That does not cause global warming. CO2 from cars does cause global warming.
I agree with you that overpopulation is a concern. Not because that
makes more humans exhaling, but because it makes more humans doing all
kinds of things harming the environment.
