Speaking a second language slows brain ageing
A study which looked at the brains of hundreds of people shows that
speaking more than one language is associated with younger brains.
Brains have billions of neurons which communicate with each other
through synapses. As we age, these connections deteriorate. Memory and cognitive speed see a steady decline.
The new research shows that the more languages a person speaks, the
younger their brain appears. It is being presented at the Federation
of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) Forum 2026 held in
Barcelona, Spain this week.

A narrow focus here...I'd say if you use it [keep learning], the same
result.
AI - Speaking more than one language does not cure or stop the
biological changes of Alzheimer's disease, but it creates a stronger
buffer in the brain.
Delaying Onset of Dementia: Are Two Languages Enough?
There is an emerging literature suggesting that speaking two or more
languages may significantly delay the onset of dementia. Although the mechanisms are unknown, it has been suggested that these may involve
cognitive reserve, a concept that has been associated with factors
such as higher levels of education, occupational status, social
networks, and physical exercise. In the case of bilingualism,
cognitive reserve may involve reorganization and strengthening of
neural networks that enhance executive control.
