Bought it as a floor model from Sears back in 1997.

Not used it much till recently, playing the full 25 loaded CD's for hours on random.

Today it says no disc on every CD it loads and spins.

Opened it up, cleaned the CD lense with Windex, loads the CD seems to spin
it ok but cannot find the TOC I guess.

Didnt look to see if the lense is focusing yet or is the sled is frozen.

Did a little deep dive on AI, and while I do have a lot of custom burned
    CD's
the regular store bought CD's give the same error.

Found service info on HFE I am gonna look at later,
was gonna take the cd mech out for an inspection later but it dont
    look like an easy disassembly.

Some Pioneers of that vintage had the lens fall off the laser
assembly. Don't use super glue to reattach it because it will fog the
    lens.

Its still there, tried cleaning it , no help.

I detached the CD mech assy from the slider bar,
the sled seemed to never be moving so I nudged it a bit with my finger,
there was a small POP noise and it moves now, but this piece fell out:

    https://ibb.co/dwJrmq9F

According to SM, looks like that is part of the pickup assy , ref: 50
    Part No. AEA7004

    This place had one: https://alltroniccomputer.com.sg/products/audio-cd-optical-pickup-aea7004-pioneer?srsltid=AfmBOoraW6GDPNefu2U4LLHvESqqI5ZkUidbP3IWJJ4CKS8giSQ0fvkf

Good photos and can see where it goes.

Apparently there is a spring in it, as I suspected so its probably lost,
fallen out since its so tiny. Might get lucky with a spring from a pen,
    dunno.

Other number on the pickup comes up in an AI search:

    ==================================================================================================
The TZ2C-P3X is an original Pioneer optical laser pickup unit (also
identified by part numbers PNP1245-F and PWX1190) designed for use in
    Pioneer Compact Disc players.

This pickup was installed in various Pioneer CD models, including:

    PD-P550 and PD-P5500
    PD-S505 and PD-S605
    PD-TM3
    PD-V10G
    PD-004, PD-104, and PD-204
    PDC-Q180
    X-P360S
    XC-L7
    XR-J130 and XR-J330
    XR-P150, XR-P160, XR-P2000, XR-P250, XR-P260, XR-P350, XR-P360, XR-P460, and XR-P460R
    XR-Q150 and XR-Q250
    XS-P550, XS-P5500, and XS-P6500
    XS-R9 ===============================================================================================
    Found one on ebay

But I guess I will tear the CD mech apart and try to put it back on
with a proper spring if I can locate one....
