A 0.42-nanometer breakthrough could push transistors beyond silicon
    Date:
    August 9, 2026
    Source:
National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University
    Summary:
Atomically thin semiconductors could enable dramatically smaller and more
efficient chips, but a stubborn problem at the boundary between materials
    has limited their performance.
Researchers have now engineered that atomic interface to protect electron
flow while still allowing extremely thin insulating layers.
The resulting transistors delivered an unusually strong combination of
    electrical control and performance.

    I don't think Jan's posts are annoying.
Unlike some of the responses he gets.
    Unnecessary perhaps, but not annoying.
They don't advertise the same four web sites with every post
and they do sometimes stimulate useful discussion.

They're off topic. Usenet newsgroups have a charter that designates
the area of discussion. It's disrespectful to readers of the group to
treat it like your personal blog and posting whatever random things
    you find interesting.

    Oh! My feelings are hurt!

    Not.

4 line signatures with whatever content the author decides to put in
there have been accepted usenet practice for decades.

Why is "A 0.42 nanometer breakthrough could push transistors beyond silicon" off topic?
If Usenet had existed 70 years ago would "Putting more than one transistor on
a chip could revolutionize electronics" be off topic?

Why does it matter? You can always ignore anything here.
If you can't ignore or feel offended or disrespected by any post in
this group then I'd suggest a visit to a mental health professional.
