Few days ago, picked up a Polaris mount, came with the original 60 mm f/15 Cometron refractor.
    Paid $30, cheap.
Missing the counterweight system, polar scope, otherwise it's in very good shape.
Have to start to hunt for these items on the net.
Very dusty, from being sitting in the garage too long.
Yesterday, gave it a good cleaning, looks like NEW now!
40 years old, but what a nice mount, quality written all over it.?
Even just keep it in my living room for decoration or for a showpiece, conversation piece, it's worth it, I think?
May use it some time to look it the Sun, Moon or other planets?
Have to figure out, how to mount my 80 mm f/6 APO with Vixen dovetail?
    Excited about my new project!

The are really good, compact mounts. Much more refined that the Chinese crap copies that followed. The counterweight shaft is threaded, so it's possible to find threaded rod to replace it then drill and thread a counterweight(s) to use with a scope. Can be used without counterweights in alt-azimuth mode. Perfect visual mount for a small refractor or small to mid-sized SCT or Mak. Slow motion controls make it more versatile at high power than conventional alt-az mount.

    Correct!
I own a NexStar SLT plastic mount also, but it only runs under power, can't be used manually, moved manually!
No power = dead on water
Done some search, this old mount is a hot potato!
On Cloudynights, soon as it comes on for sale, it's bought hole or in parts. Nothing on eBay!
    Found this on FaceBook!
An old lady was selling it, she said her late husband used it long time ago! Yes, thanks for the advice, just buy the threaded rod, I have a small counterweight and it works.
The polar scope, counterweight, only necessary in EQ mode, maybe the motor drive too, for tracking and some astro photos.
The other HOT mount is the old SP mount, also an Alt/Az or EQ mode capable mount !
    Also, hard to get!

Or the even rarer SP DX.

    You mean GP DX?
I own the GP D, same thing, except the GP D was made for the Japanese market, DX for the American.
