    This article describes the last 24 years since the discovery of the
    "Touma|>" skull (+ possible femur) in Chad in 2001. It's an amusing/sad account of several individuals and their squabbles over a couple of
    bones. Physical anthropologists greatly outnumber the fossils, and
    "rights" to analyze them. Apes are generally believed to have
    originated in the Asia duting th Miocene. The Touma|> skull seems to be
    an African Miocene primate. As such, it is a (very) longshot
    possibility that it is an ancestor of ours. Paleontology generally can
    claim no ancestral relations for anything, but homonins are recent
    enough that people try.
