• Road trip

    From Retro Guy@retroguy@novabbs.com to rocksolid.shared.general on Fri Feb 14 11:33:56 2025
    From Newsgroup: rocksolid.shared.general

I have had my car sitting for two years while I've been home recovering,
so I decided to get it to the shop and get it checked out. All fluids
    flushed, check hoses, belts, etc.

Yesterday I took a short road trip to a nearby town, here's a link for a
    couple of pics.
The view is about half way there (about 40 minutes from my house) and
the road is a side road in the town. My car is the beat up old Hyundai
    in the pic :)

Ten points if you can name the town! (Not that points do anything)

Anyway, here's a link to the pics for anyone bored enough to look: https://postimg.cc/gallery/vdMKhYY

You got it! Prescott is about a 90 minute drive north of me.

Glad to see you are out and about.

Thanks! But I probably shouldn't have had that quarter pounder while there,
    lol :)

You brought back a flood of memories mentioning Prescott and the Valley of the Sun.

I've been through the Prescott area many times over the years. I've also been through Phoenix, Mesa, Tuscon, Apache Junction, Globe, Shilo, Payson, Quartzite, Chandler, Buckeye, Lake Havasu, Albuquerque, Farmington, Los Cruces, and on and on. I used to work out of Phoenix and I went everywhere from there. I used to walk along the public sidewalks where citrus were planted along the streets, harvesting oranges and grapefruits from the city trees.

Ah, I remember that! Citrus, flowers, etc. sold on the road side. It was a
    nice time.

I'm glad that much of AZ is still undeveloped and there is a lot of fun to
    be had exploring.

I'm not sure what stops you uploading to your own website, but in
case you're a *nix user, this is the script I use to automatically
generate a gallery web page from all image files in the current
directory using Image Magick (enter filename extension of images
    and page title when prompted):

    #!/bin/sh
    # Creates HTML image index page using image magick.

    read -p "Extension? " ext
    read -p "Title? " title

    montage -label '%t' -size 512x512 "*.$ext[240x180]" \
    -geometry +5+5 -tile 3x -shadow -title "$title" photo_index.html

    convert photo_index.png photo_index.jpg

    sed -i photo_index.html -e 's/<h1>.*<\/h1>//' \
    -e 's/photo_index.png/photo_index.jpg/'

    rm photo_index.png
