• RetroBBS Synchronet install is back online

I've been running a Synchronet install for RetroBBS for years. I started
it before I got back into Usenet, before i2pn2 and before RSLight. In
fact, RSLight was supposed to simply be an interface to Synchronet when
    I started.

Anyway, I've gone ahead and cleaned up the BBS, added a ton of files
(old DOS/Win/OS2) stuff, and made it once again available online.

If you're interested, it's available here:
    Telnet: retrobbs.synchro.net Port:23
    RLogin: retrobbs.synchro.net Port:513
    FTP: retrobbs.synchro.net Port:21
    Gopher: retrobbs.synchro.net Port:70
    IRC: retrobbs.synchro.net Port:6667

and a web accessible Telnet client: https://www.rocksolidbbs.com/common/viewbbs.php
Note: Some features don't work well in a web client, but run fine via
    Telnet

SyncTERM is a nice client for visiting BBSs:

Feel free to check it out if you're bored.

    Thank you

    ASCII terminal is great ;)

Tried to use as a Guest

and many submenus appear for selection

How to jump into a specific usenet group ?

Does Retro stay for ASCII archives of Usenet ?

I've just changed how to select a group:
use 'J' to Jump to a new message area
Use arrows to select the Section then press Enter
Use arrows to select Group then press Enter
Then you can use 'L' to list articles and Enter to view them

The Sections and Groups currently match www.novabbs.com

You need to register to Post

Does Retro stay for ASCII archives of Usenet ?

    What do you mean?

Yes, Guest can see most everything. Not all, but most. Some File areas are invisible to Guest also.

But you can only post to rocksolid.* groups without registering for a real account. Other usenet groups require a registered account, so that your
    email address is verified.

If you find that you can, please let me know so I can disable that :)
