I see an Error Message constantly when trying to access these 3
newsgroups:

)

The Error Message is "Error: The connection to the Message Server
failed.
Please wait a few minutes and try again."
Is this a problem with my browser settings or with novabbs.com?

not your fault.

novabbs.com is overloaded
or it is just a bug in the backend that triggers a longer timeout...

but since the owner 'Retro Guy' is no longer with us: RIP !
there is no admin anymore who could fix things...

Most likely it will not be fixed on this server. Switch to another, e.g newsgrouper.org or get a real newsreader.

I used my current newsreader, Opera Mail_1.0.1044, to post this reply. :)
I also use Betterbird some of the time.
I used novabbs for searches of newsgroups messages.
