    Hello!

Rafa Jodar is in some trouble. The Chinese dude
called Bu won the first set 6-2 and leads 1-0
in the second, with a single break!

Jodar is OUT!!! What a demolition job, Bu absolutely
    destroyed the young Spaniard 6-2, 6-1, 6-1.

Not even the rain delay could change the course of
this match. Who would have believed? Some people had
predicted that Jodar would win the whole tournament
but he lost in the fucking first round!

    Me.

I don't seem to get what others get about Jodar. I suspect he's a
    mommy's boy.

yeah he gives that impression off the court, but on it he seems to be
rock solid mentally. He's got a lot to prove obviously. This is the
most embarrassing loss all year for any player imo. Fils losing 1st
round is very bad too, but at least that was to Tsitsipas who has runs
    on the board.

    Wow incredible lol : )

Officially this is prob my worst slam prediction ever - at least since I tipped Tomic to win Wimbledon one year : )

I thought maybe there was some injury but he said he was fine
physically. He suggested it wasn't a big deal, but would be if he
learned nothing from it and it happened again. Hmm, I think it's worse
than what he thinks. It's not like he lost to a great player, he was absolutely creamed by a guy ranked > 100. He seems mentally tough so
I'm at a loss for this performance. This is why only mugs bet on tennis : ) --- Synchronet 3.22a-Linux NewsLink 1.2

The HBO Max commentator said that all the players have two or three days
per year where "the feel is just off". He saw no obvious problems with
Jodar, but told us that this was one of those days where the feel is
not there. It could be so.

Tennis timing and "touch" are delicate things and even slight miscue
could prove fatal as the tempo of the game is very fast nowadays.

This is why only mugs bet on tennis : )

Me too. I am actually on the winning side, 180re4, but I stopped
betting. Why? Because every time I knew who is going to win, the
betting agencies always knew it too. So I was getting bad odds
and was forced to be at least 100re4 to make 20re4 or so.

True, but his opponent was so far beneath his assumed skill level that
Jodar should not have lost in straight sets 2, 1, and 1.

It's more than a normal "off day".

Jodar did play badly yes, lots of unforced errors. But
I believe we have to give lots of credit to Bu as well.

He made far less unforced errors and I think he outplayed
Jodar in terms of winners. In short, bad performance by
Jodar and Bu played the best match of his entire life.

    Hence the crushing outcome.

Yeah, I could never seen the gain in betting with an establishment that
has far better knowledge and slants the odds (way) in their favor at
every opportunity. If it was 50-50, then maybe I would consider, but
    never at 45-55 or whatever...

And that's why we watch. Anything is possible on the day. So happy to
see Dane beating Musetti. He's a classic battler working so hard for a
dream, finally starting to happen for him this year.
