As for middle east I would not go, but you can't deny one thing, if a person is into adventures and old civilisations, middle east is probably the only place that you can go in today's world.

Only place to get raw ancient life. Mysticism, or whatever.

You don't get that anywhere else to that extent. You won't get it in Montreal or Bruxelles or even Jakarta or Mexico city.
