    It's Zverev.

    I just checked MPOAT rank.

    Most deserved non-champions.

    #24, Zverev, 29 pts, 0%
    ...
    #32, Berdych, 25 pts, 0%
    ...
    #34, Ferrer, 24 pts, 0%
    ..
#37, Roche, 23 pts, 0% (he won in amateurs)
    ...
    #39, Tsonga, 22 pts, 0%
    ...
    #49, Martin, 18 pts, 0%

    That's your pitiful group.

We can do the other way around?
    Most undeserving champions?

    #133, Gaudio, 5 pts, 100%
    ...
    #100, Teacher, 7 pts, 71%
    ...
    #87, Johansson, 9 pts, 56%
    ...
    #80, Gomez, 10 pts, 50%
    #80, Costa 10 pts, 50%
    ...
    #74, Edmondson, 11 pts, 45%

    5, 3, 2, 1 are points for W, F, S, Q.

It means Gaudio has never reached QF anywhere else in any of the slams, other than his slam winning run which brought him 5. He scored 5 pts in total, and all 5 pts come from his slam winning run, thus 100%.

Maybe if you use some other criteria like ability or best at peak and stuff like that but based on pure stats and consistency, he doesn't stand out.

Ruud has 3 slam finals & 1 SF.

I asked couple AIs and they're pretty useless at this.
It's not quite yet the new AI era. Elon is posting some silly AI videos
since apparently that's the best what Grok can do.

    https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2017793042061922330?s=20

He's also planning to put up to a million data center satellites around
the Earth orbit. That would help us to make many AI cat & girl videos, I guess.

Yeah but that's kinda everything he has.

    3 finals (3=C3=973, 9 pts)
    1 semi (1=C3=972, 2 pts)

Total 11, he has those 4 slam runs, nothing else. His volume (or presence, = which is what P in MPOAT stands for, is weak)

    #74 Ruud, 11 pts, 0%

But yeah, if we go with strict measurements, most titles, finals, semis, qu= arters, he would be high.

Here's a strict table for all multiple slam finalists.

First two digits are finals, second two semis, last two quarters.

    Alexander Zverev=0931016
    Tony Roche=0930812
    Casper Ruud=0930404

Roche won 1966 FO and r/up 1965 and 1967. In open era he was r/up at Wimbledon and twice at USO, losing to Laver twice and Rosewall once.
His highest ranking was no.2. He won 46 singles titles. All up he made
6 singles slam finals only won 1. Similar career to Medvedev? I'd
exclude him from this list as he does have the FO, even though it's not
    in open era.

Imo he's the best volleyer of all time. He made volleys look
ridiculously easy, bit like Stan and his backhand.

I welcome your input, I said myself Roche is a slam champion prior to open era, I know that.

However since this archive deals with open era, then it shows his (open era) record for what it is, similarly the way Laver is credited with 5 slam wins, Newcombe 5 too, even though their totals are 11 and 7...

Checking these stats, they're fun, for all the prominence Berdych had, he really only made 1 slam final.

Among the non champions who made just 1 final, he's the most successful/consistent one.

So he's kinda a winner within a loser category?

Yeah, I guess the only issue is the slam was held and he still won.
Granted the pros were banned, but nobody forced them to turn pro? So
really it's a self inflicted ban. Sure money is a great reason to turn
pro, but it's still a choice. Some don't really count Novak making this
AO final as Mensik withdrew and Musetti from 2-0 up. The way I see it
none of that matters, people only care who turned up and who won end of
    the day.

In the 1990s perhaps, nowadays I don't think so. EfyU

I remember John Entwistle posting on The Who newsgroup, and some legends
on NHRA's alt newsgroup. Nino on van-halen. It was pretty freaking cool,
    among the chaos.

Ultimately, I really loved that it was an open platform, unlike the web.

Well other than a single USO semi, all of his runs were in AO.

    It was another era, j.

Of course you have a point, but there was a sort of innocent naive
belief in not fucking people around just to pat yourself on the back. I
think that there'd be a much better chance in the early/mid 90s that
people were who they said there are.

I feel pretty sure that you're on other forums. I've gotten increasingly disgusted at easily finding people who seem to actually *want* to screw
others around without even any discernible advantage to themselves. They
just basically want to deny any proposition on what seems to be solely personal spleen. They don't wish to make *any* point, they just want to
    scream "NOOOOO!".
