Doesn't look good for Citeh. Massive point deduction that effectively
relegates them to the Championship? Maybe staggered over two seasons
so that it will take them several years to claw their way back up?
Stripping them of their titles? (I am already seeing Virgin fans
hoping they'll be awarded the 2023 Champions League...)

Without any evidence, I would assume that's why he left. They must have had some advance knowledge.

The punishment can't be covering one season, and can't possibly be only transfer restrictions. Past titles must be stripped for this to be any kind of respectable punishment. All that, plus don't get the club owner too upset at your puny little league.

Won't happen. Who the fuck wants a Premier League title
handed to them in an office in London years after the
    event?

I'm going with, points deduction... and/or some sort of
transfer ban. (As Manchester City are state-run by an
oil-rich country in the middle east I assume a fine would
    be meaningless.)

Then a lengthy appeal to the CAS or something...

    50 point deduction minimum.
