South Africa and Nigeria both lost their 1st match!

Barbra Banda is the top scorer so far, with 4 goals; all scored in
    Zambia's 1st match.

Nigeria scraped through to the quarter-finals on goals scored in head
    to head matches after a match that included 4 penalties (at least);
they won 6-2 against Egypt, with the 5th and 6th goals coming in the
1st and 9th minute of injury time.

Then they lost in the quarter-final against Cameroon, who had no
business being there as they'd been knocked out in the qualifiers, only
for CAF to change the rules in the middle of the tournament. As a
result Cameroon have now qualified for the Women's World Cup. I
    certainly won't be supporting them.

South Africa also lost in the quarter-finals.

Barbra Banda is the top scorer with 5 goals in 3 matches.

The other news is worth a thread of its own.

Am I the only person following this tournament? This is the
    Championship of Africa you know!

Cameroon, who have no business being there having not qualified, are
playing Malawi, who should have gone out in the 1st round on goal
difference, in the final. Malawi winning it would be the lesser of the
    2 evils.

Perhaps the biggest news though is that Nigeria failed to qualify for
the World Cup! They didn't even make the inter-confederation play-offs.
Is this the 1st time Nigeria have failed to qualify for the Women's
    World Cup?
