Clear foul and YC that the ref should have shown to France. It looked
like this live and even clearer on the replay.

Otherwise, France are attacking quite forcefully, had one big chance
already, Morocco defend well but inexistent in attack.

It seems Morocco are adopting the Paraguayan approach, which was very effective except for a VAR slow motion penalty.

Penalty to France, but VAR is checking... Confirmed. Mbapp|-, who won
it, to take it... Bono saves it!!!

Clear penalty for France now, which Mbappe misses. Very weak execution.

I thought it was quite debatable. Mazraoui took a risk with the
tackle, but to me Mbapp|- seeked contact.

No way. It was a clear late tackle. Not even the moroccans protested.

I wouldn't have called the handball for Morocco in the last minute. The
shot came from very near and was quite strong. Fortunately Hakimi did
    nothing with it.

Over-all, very disappointing evolution for Morocco in the first half.
Did next to nothing in attack and were quite lucky several times in
defense. The french had 3 or 4 excellent chances besides the penalty,
but missed them all. Morocco lucky to still have 0 - 0 at half time.
If this goes on like this in the second half, France deserve to win.

Finally Mbappe scores, with a fine shot near the right post. Bono dived
but couldn't do anything this time.

1 - 0, desrved lead by France. Now Morocco have to show something else
    or they're out.

And now 2 - 0, quick central action by France, finalized by Dembele

The way France are playing, hard to see Morocco turning things around.

The result may be the same (so far) as in the semifinal
four years ago, but the gulf between the two teams is
way bigger than it was back then.

    Ciao,

    Ciao,
    Werner

    Indeed.

2 - 0 final score, and this time there is no doubt as to who the
    rightful winner was.
Assuming (very likely) that Spain make it too, it will be a game to
    watch.

For what it's worth, there was a pretty clear handball by Rabiot about
10 seconds before the Mbappe goal: he went into a tackle with Brahim
Diaz and won the ball, but the ball then ricocheted onto his right
hand, allowing him to control it and pass it wide to Digne. His cross
was cleared by a Moroccan defender, a couple more aerial duels won by
the French, until the ball finally landed to Doue, then Mbappe, and in
    the back of the net.

I think not reviewing the play was the common sense thing to do (also,
it's possible that the Moroccan defender's clearance "reset" the whole sequence, so that VAR could not intervene any more...but I'm not
exactly sure what the protocol is), but in light of some recent precedents...who knows?

Anyway, easy and clearly deserved win for France. Disappointing for
Morocco that they went out with a whimper after a very good World Cup.
