Kicked off with an hour of delay due to weather conditions (heavy rain I gather). Tricky game for the hosts I'd say, even though they're slight favorites for this one.

Very entertaining start to this one. A couple of good chances for
Mexico, then Yeboah hit the post, and now Quinones beats a very high
    offside trap and finishes brilliantly.

Ref now calls a hydration break, breaking up what looked like a
    promising counterattack.

Sounds like a rocking atmosphere in Mexico City.

First quarter ends 1-0 to Mexico (Qui|#ones at the 19th minute), after a
quick counter attack where he was onside for being one step within his
half of the field. Mexico had a couple of clear chances, but Ecuador had
one too. Slight upper hand for the hosts, though a very close game
    overall thus far.

And now even more rocking after Jimenez takes advantage of a poor
clearance by the Ecuadorian defense, combines with Quinones, and makes
it 2-0 with another brilliant finish.

They were ruthless. Brilliant finish indeed.

They're such a tough nut to crack in front of a full house at Estadio
Azteca. If it ends like this, England/DR Congo will have their hands
    quite full at the eightfinals.

All the same, it's not over yet... Ecuador cannot lower their heads.
    C'mon La Tri!

Now it is and 2-0 it ends. Deserved win for Mexico. Ecuador was brave,
but Mexico was clearly the best side tonight.

Stupid red card for Hincapi|- at second half injury time. He knows
there's a rule against covering your mouth when talking to an opponent,
he knows that there are a hundred cameras filming... yet he goes on and
does just that, thinking no one will see it. The game was basically over already, but nonetheless that was a rather dumb move.

Mexico now awaits the winner of England vs DR Congo, for an eightfinal
to be played again at Estadio Azteca. They still haven't conceded a goal
    in this tournament.

    FT 2-0

Mexico controlled the game rather comfortably in the second half,
    Ecuador never really dangerous.

4 wins out of 4 for El Tri, zero goals conceded. Hm...

I don't like the snitching aspect of this rule.
