    ECU-GER

    Standings:
    GER 6 9-2
    CIV 3 2-2
    ECU 1 0-1
    CUW 1 1-7

Good news for Scotland: Germany is fielding almost all of their
starters (Raum over Brown the only non-forced difference I can see
relative to their previous match. Rudiger over Schlotterbeck forced by
    the Schlotterbeck injury)

Very early goal for Germany, but VAR should have call it back, as Vite
was kicked in the face during the build up.

Out of five shots faced...pretty pathetic.

Yes, guaranteed qualification. They would be already ahead of Scotland
and Korea (3 pts), Bosnia (4 points and -1 GD), and Senegal/Iraq can't
get to more than 3 points.

And curiously, although the draw is obviously not good for them, it
doesn't definitely eliminates them. They would still be hoping for the following results (all of them needed):
    - Uruguay losing by 2+;
    - Iran losing by 2+;
    - Congo drawing 0-0 and getting a few cards;
    - Senegal drawing with Iraq.

I sent that just before the hydration break. As in other matches, the
break killed Ecuador's momentum and allowed Germany to settle down and
at least move back in front in terms of possession, if not in terms of
    chances.

Early PK for Germany but VAR should call it back, for at least two
reasons: a foul for Ecuador a bit earlier and also the contact in the
box was softer than the contact that wasn't called in Germany's goal.

And so it is! Foul for Ecuador!

    KIT WATCH:

Germany have turned up in what looks like an off colour Argentina away
kit (navy with bright light blue trim and shorts). I mean, yeah, it
looks ok...if you're Argentina! Not if you're Germany!

How can a team get their home kit so right and get their away kit so
wrong? All they had to do was turn up in green and white trim like in
Italia '90. It would have been so easy to get this right. :(

    a 66' CIV 2-0 CUW

End of the third quarter, still 1-1 between ECU and GER. Neuer finally >>>> saves a shot, but it was Germany that was able to get into better
    positions.

And now an almost comical mixup between Tah and Neuer gifts Ecuador a
    goal.

Are we in si se puede territory?

    aDefinitely!
    aGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL! Plata!

    SI SE PUEDE, VAMO ECUADOR!

Ecuador now carried by the enthusiasm of the crowd, they seem to be
much closer to a third goal than Germany to an equalizer.

    FT: 1-1

Ecuador through to R32, looking grimmer and grimmer for Scotland.

The Germany of old would have crushed Ecuadorian dreams in th 97th
    minute.

2-1! Conmebol keeps the 100% against UEFA in this Cup. But I guess
it's too much to ask from Uruguay against Spain.

Are they getting soft? Or saving the ruthlessness for when it matters?

    Tchau!

Has Neuer made any saves in this tournament?

    Apparently, two (says livescore.com).

Out of five shots faced...pretty pathetic.

Germany had started the game really hot, but in the last 10 minutes
    it's been all Ecuador.
