And what should we say about Edin Dzeko? Surely one of the top-5
strikers in world football in the past 20 years, capable of scoring in
buckets in every league he has played. Everybody remembers the
Agueeero goal, but none of that would have been possible without
Dzeko's goals two minutes before that.

Also, there will be no goal-line technology. In these circumstances,
it would frankly be a miracle if Italy qualifies.

Bosnia eventually equlized, and now, 10 minutes into ET, Italy is in
full catenaccio mode, hoping that Donnarumma will save us on PKs.

    Frankly, embarrassing.

Palestra breaks through and is fouled by Muharemovic. Not a DOGSO,
just a yellow for the Bosnian defender.

Free kick for Italy from the edge of the box...Tonali...into the wall.
On the ensuing move, Esposito with a chance... saved by the Bosnian
    keeper.

End of first half ET, still 1-1

Bosnia collecting corners, they go very close now. About one minuite
    to go before penalties

I am against Sweden making it. Worst team in qualifying and yet ehy
still make it through the back door. And I dont want those American

How many teams does Europe send to this WCup ? Around 20 I guess. And

On the other hand, DR Congo seems to have the edge over Jamaica on the
three criteria used above. They're valued by Transfermarkt at EUR 153.40 >million, while Jamaica's at EUR 53.83 million; FIFA ranking has DR Congo
at 48th position, Jamaica at 70th, and ELO follows close, rating DR
Congo as 56th and Jamaica as 72nd. I guess that means they'll crush
Jamaica, though I suspect it should be a lot closer than that.

DR Congo 1-0 AET, and they are the 47th team to make it to the WC. Not
a great intercontinental playoff for CONCACAF.

    Ciao,
    Werner

It is an issue. This wasn't about Lucescu. It was about Edi Iordanescu
not being allowed to finish his job he started so well. The same guys
are in charge and they will lead the same way. I would most definitely
have wanted to see how he does in WCup qualifications.
(This actually reinforces my point. Lucescu was old and rather sick,
clearly not a choice for such a difficult job. They may even have
    hastened his death this way.)

That said, about Lucescu, he was definitely one of our best coaches in
his prime, but saying he was one of the most successful coaches of all
time is a big exaggeration. What did he win ? One UEFA cup with
Sakhtar, which is remarkable, and rather many national title in minor
or at best second-greade leagues. He had IIRC a period of a few months
at Inter and wasn't able to prove himself. Definitely not in the big
    league of coaches.
One of the things I remember him for is the Champions Cup run of Dinamo
in 84. They got to the semis by defeating the title holders Hamburg in impressive fashion, 3 - 0 in Bucharest and 2 - 3 in Hamburg. That game
in Bucharest was probably the best ever by a romanian club team, even
better than those of Steaua IMO. A good occasion to remember this. Also
he was a solid NT defender in the 70s when we got to the World Cup in
Mexico and made a good impression.

    RIP

Well, they were the team of the Militie and Securitate so they were not
very sympathized, apart for their fans of course. By contrast, Steaua
was the club of the army and it was easy to cheer for them, especially
after they won the Champions Cup. So Dinamo weren't exactly my

Anyway, I'm impressed you know about them.
