"Start Over" is a song by American recording artist Beyonc|- taken from her fourth studio album, 4 (2011). It was written by Shea Taylor, Beyonc|- Knowles and Ester Dean and produced by Taylor and Knowles. The song's development was motivated by the fact that Knowles traveled around the world and experienced different cultures which inspired love and purity inside her. A mid-tempo pop, pop rock and soul-influenced R&B ballad, "Start Over" finds the female protagonist affirming her individuality and expressing her love for a man with whom she attempts to start a relationship all over again. Knowles' vocals are accompanied by electric and enticing beats; the song's instrumentation includes drums and synthesizers.

Robert Copsey of the website Digital Spy found similarities between the song and Knowles' older material.[20] Chad Grischow of IGN commented that the chiming blend of synth and piano over a hollow beat on "Start Over" showcase the vulnerability in Knowles' vocals effectively.[12] Amanda Hensel of the website Pop Crush graded the song with three out of five stars and called it one of the "begging and pleading love songs, but it also has that element of 'Yeah, it's probably time to call this off.'"[8] She added that: "This feels like more of a filler track than a chart-topping single, and because she's the best of the best, it's easy for her to knock out a killer song without really trying."[8] Hensel finished her review by saying "'Start Over' is good, but it's not amazing, and we know she can do better."[8] Cristin Maher of the same publication in his review of 4 wrote:
"Although it is easy for some to get sick of the repetitive lovesick theme B seems to gravitate towards, the music in this song nothing short of epic, as is Beyonce's vocal performance. The beat steadily grows from the verses to the bridge and, finally, to the chorus, with pounding drums coming in to the loop during the refrain as B[eyonc|-] sings, 'Let's start over / Let's give love their wings / Let's start over / Stop fighting bout the same old thing.'"[17]
The song begins with the recognition that relationships are not always smooth sailing. Beyonc|- acknowledges the pain and struggles that occur within a partnership, expressing the desire to overcome them and rebuild what has been broken. The lyrics convey a sense of hope, urging the listener to hold onto love and fight for a better tomorrow.
Start Over serves as a poignant moment within the album, highlighting the fragility and resilience of love. It contributes to the overall theme of self-reflection and personal growth explored throughout 4.
I think the lyrics are correct as they stand. The song is about starting the relationship over and getting back to being happy. She's still in love but they're constantly fighting all of the time and she's tired of it.
No, I think she's saying it's over. Let's start over with someone else.
I feel weak - we been here before, (I'm tired of this, it's deja Vu)
'Cause I feel we keep going back and forth... (fighting/bickering)
Maybe it's over, maybe we're through, (Maybe we should just face it)
But I honestly can say I still love you.. (I still love you but...)
Maybe we reached the mountain peak, and there's no more left to climb, (We've come to the end of our rope)
And maybe we lost the magic piece, and we're both too blind to find... (We've been here too long and don't know what happened)
Let's start over - let's give love their wings; (Let's free our love for someone else)
    etc.
    then she ends it with
I know that this will hurt you, I know you'll cry; (It's hard to hear what I'm saying)
I know I called you selfish, but that's a lie... (I'm sorry for what i've done.)
I feel I know what's best for us; (It hurts but I think i'm the only rational one in this)
    Let's...
"I feel weak / We've been here before / 'Cause I feel we keep going back and forth / Maybe it's over, maybe we're through / But I can honestly say I still love you," Beyonce sings, rather desperately, in the intro.
"Maybe we've reached a mountain peak and there's no more left to climb / And maybe we lost a magic piece and we're both too blind to find / Let's start over / Let's give love their wings / Let's start over / Stop fighting about the same old things."
"Start Over" by Beyonc|- explores the idea of restarting a troubled relationship in order to save the love that once existed between two individuals. The song depicts a situation where the couple is constantly going back and forth, feeling weak and unsatisfied with their current state. Beyonc|- expresses a strong desire to salvage their love and make it thrive once again.
The chorus serves as a plea to start afresh and rekindle their love. Beyonc|- suggests that in order to give their relationship a chance to flourish, they need to let go of the past arguments and grievances. The repetition of the phrase "Let's start over" emphasizes the desire for change and renewal. The lyrics reflect the belief that their love should be given another chance to thrive and grow beyond its current state.
In the second verse, Beyonc|- acknowledges the lack of happiness in their relationship and questions the authenticity of their interactions. She remarks on the possibility that her partner may be content with the current situation, whereas she refuses to settle for unhappiness. This highlights the theme of self-discovery and individual growth, indicating Beyonc|-'s determination to prioritize her own wellbeing.
The bridge reveals Beyonc|-'s understanding of the pain and emotional turmoil that their decision may cause. She admits to previously calling her partner selfish, acknowledging her own faults, and suggesting there may be a deeper understanding of each other's needs. This bridge serves as a moment of introspection and vulnerability, displaying the complexity of emotions involved in wanting to start over.
In a trailer for the film, Beyonc|- says, \"When I am performing, I am nothing but free. The goal for this tour was to create a place where everyone is free and no one is judged. Start over, start fresh. Create the new. That's what the Renaissance is all about.\"
    Let's start over
    Let's give love their wings
    Let's start over
Stop fighting about the same old thing
    Let's start over
We can't let our good love die
Maybe we can start all over
    And give love another life
    Let's start over!
And let's give love their wings
    Let's start over
I'm tired of fighting about the same old thing
    Let's start over
We both know that this love won't die
Maybe we can start all over
    And give love another life
"When I am performing, I am nothing but free," Beyonc|- says in the two-minute clip released Oct. 2. "The goal for this tour was to create a place where everyone is free and no one is judged. Start over, start fresh, create the new. That's what the Renaissance is about."
DJ D-Nice warmed up the crowd pre-show, playing tons of Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella joints, along with true New York anthems. He was sure to shout all the celebrity guests in attendance, which included Maxwell, Jennifer Hudson, Lady Gaga, and of course, Jay-Z. His set continued for a bit longer than we expected, ending near 10 PM, to lead way to Beyonce. Her mere presence on a stage full of talented women (orchestra, band, back-up singers, and dancers), was enough to make even the manliest of men squeal like a little girl. She began her set with a medley of tunes, starting with the Destiny Child days, leading up to present. The nostalgia of going on this mini musical journey was great, as the crowd interacted in all ways possible.
RENAISSANCE: A FILM BY BEYONC|e will also play at most other U.S., Canadian and Mexican movie theatre chains starting Nov 30/Dec 1 as well, including Cinemark, Regal, Cineplex, Cinepolis and so many others.

Still, she persisted, and in June 2018, Tanjong became a first-generation college graduate. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia, three weeks later to start her new role as an operational manager at a manufacturing and supply company.
Relying on her savings, Tanjong traveled around Africa for six months. She started in Ghana, where she began to unintentionally network with young entrepreneurs. As she traveled, she interviewed local entrepreneurs for the African Hustle series on YouTube and Instagram, which she created to showcase how "young people are reshaping the continent in their own way," she says.
When she found a local artisan could craft her jewelry and purse designs, Tanjong explored what it would mean to start a small business by speaking with and hiring other artisans in the area. Then, she transferred money from her savings and invested approximately $5,000 into the company. The money funded travel, materials and labor to make 50 bags.
