Jamboree on the Air
Each year, over a million scouts and guides from over 170 countries
around the world take part in something special. This is called
Jamboree on the Air and Jamboree on the Internet. It's a weekend of
radio, internet, and friendship. It is happening from the 17th to the
19th of October, with most activity on Saturday. This is a chance to
support the future of our wonderful hobby.
Between Friday 17th and Sunday 19th, but especially Saturday 18th, you
are asked to run a support station at your club, at your home QTH or as
a field day activity on your own or with some other operators! Listen
out for and watch the cluster for scout stations on HF, 2m, and QO-100.
The nature of such events is that there may be 5 to 30 scouts who have
never been on the radio with a licensed operator supervising, all
wanting to make contact. Radio scouting Ireland will provide a
JOTA-JOTI patch to all IE operators with 10 or more logged calls with
scout stations in Ireland or around the world. Email ADIF or CSV logs
to radioscoutingireland /at/ gmail.com

Radio Experiment Day at Tog Hackerspace - Tuning In to the ISS
As part of National Space Week, Tog Hackerspace in Dublin will be
hosting a Radio Experiment Day on Sunday, October 5th, 2025, from 11:30
a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This isn't a class or formal demonstration. It is a hands-on day of
experimenting, tinkering, and learning together. The focus will be on
trying out different ways to receive signals from the ARISS Slow Scan
Television (SSTV) event taking place that weekend.
The Space Week SSTV Event, Series 29, will feature six images
transmitted from the International Space Station on 145.800 MHz using
PD120 encoding. Two transmission windows are scheduled. The first
window is from Oct 3rd and 4th starting on Friday at 14:00 UTC and
ending on Sat at 10:00 UTC. The second window opens over Oct 4th to the
6th. It starts on Saturday from 11:00 UTC and ends on Monday.
The same set of images will be sent in both windows, so there will be
plenty of opportunities to catch them. On the day, Tog Hackerspace also
be calling in to the Dublin area IRTS news transmission on the 2m band,
with two especially good ISS passes around 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to bring along their own radios, antennas, and
setups. The more variety, the better! You are invited to just drop in,
have a chat, and join the fun. The location is Tog Hackerspace, Unit
1B, Motorcity, Kylemore Rd, Dublin 12, D12 CF6V.
