On September 19, 2025, a Remembrance Ceremony is being held in Cobour
g, Ontario for Fern Blodgett Sunde rCo the first Canadian female w
ireless radio operator who made 78 crossings of the Atlantic in WWII.
"A Canadian trailblazer, Fern Blodgett Sunde was the first woman to work
as a wireless radio operator at sea, serving aboard an Allied merchant
ship during the Battle of the Atlantic."
The Norwegian statue committee (which unveiled a twin statue in Farsund No
rway May 8, 2025) will be in Cobourg, Ontario as well as the Norwegian
Ambassador. The Pipes and Drums and cadets, as well Keiva Earle and som
e of the St. Mary's choir will be part of the event. A reception at the Le
gion will also be held as shown on the invitation. All are welcome.
