Who is the man in Orange shirt?

Around 45 sec. he says [He (Proust) was buoyant] --- Why is this funny?

and then the Audience shouts something... What is that?

    Yes Gyles Brandreth.
    Yes Sue Perkins.

Who is the man in Orange shirt?

Bill Bailey. He'll surely have loads of other clips on Youtube (he's a stand up comedian who often
combines playing musical instruments into his routines).

They had been discussing how Proust was gay, and Stephen had just mentioned how Proust only wrote in
a cork-lined room, being very "sensitive". Bill suggests he was bouyant. Ho ho, well corks float!
And also Proust was gay, so he liked buoys/boys?

I don't know, but they don't generally do that so it must be part of some ongoing game being played
    - one of those things that would be obvious if we saw the whole episode.

    Mike.

How did G.Brandreth get so chummy with the royals?
Was he always close to Charles?

She is SO good here. (So quick and sharp)

I think maybe this was filmed (and aired) almost 10 years ago?

The way he said it, it sounded like Boyt (Boy't) --- what accent is that?

In the show QI the contestant's buzzers are allocated audio clips, rather
than just buzzing. I don't think the audience shout anything, I think it
is a contestant (possibly Giles) pressing their buzzer. I can't make out
what the clip is, but that'd have been covered at the start of the show,
in the introduction to the contestants.

Ah, that must be right. I came across a transcript of that show somewhere, and the buzzer
assignments were recordings of the audience cheering etc..
