The 25th National Cipher Challenge will be available from 24th September
2026. Aimed a secondary school-age children and produced by the University
of Southampton Mathematics Department. However, the challenges are
available to anyone to take part, the challenge comprises a series of
messages enciphered with increasing complexity. The early challenges are
quite simple, similar to my initial message, but by the end of the
challenge will be difficult enough to challenge most abilities. If you are familiar with transformations, Vigen|?re and Playfair, Porta ciphers etc.,
you should sail through the early rounds and make it to the final round.
The final round is always a bit more challenging.
Generally there are a couple of encrypted messages a week, which will
outline a story, when deciphered. There will be more challenges presented
by competitors, in the various forums.
