• Proper cameras

I just looked at my flickr account. I had forgotten just how good proper photos are. I've not picked up my camera in a couple of years - "just use
the mobile phone, it's almost as good". No it flipping well is not.

I now plan to resume my old hobby. Hang on..., guitar, piano, bicycle AND photography?

    Hmm...

My brother and his wife just returned from a trip to China and
Mongolia. He posted (Google Photo Album) photos taken there and I had
to bite my tongue. Very low resolution and unedited.

His interests are different from mine. I'm into photography, and he's
not, and I understand that. Still, seeing some of those images I had
to think how much better they would have been using a proper camera
    and hosting source.

Another difference is that few of his photos show people other than he
or his wife standing in front of some building. To me, the most
interesting photos can be of the people...especially when they are of
a different culture. Quite a bit of my own photography has been
    "street photography" capturing candid views.

which partly explains the appeal of the M series Leica models favoured
by the likes of Cartier-Bresson - they are almost silent in operation.

I believe the late Denis Healy was also a fan
