My venerable Canon Power Shot A580 AiAF is no longer working. It
will say that I need to change the batteries immediately upon my
putting new A cells in and turning the camera on. I think I've had
it for about 10 years, and I paid $129 USD for it, so it's not a
bad buy. But I need a camera. Can anyone suggest a camera that's
similar for a reasonable price? I'm okay with 8 MP, I don't need
more. Something similar to the Canon A580 would be fine, if they
    make such a thing anymore.

Obviously I don't keep up with developments in cameras, but I like
to post photographs on-line here and there and it's very useful for
me when I need a photograph for an ID card or something. I don't
expect that I'll be able to replace the A580 for $129, but price is
    an object. Any suggestions?

Did you already replace the CR1220 Battery?

For the past few years, my daily driver was Pentax WG-3. Compact,
dustproof, shockproof, crushproof, coldproof. And I've got it
second hand for a bit over $100.

Got the GPS model as my intent was to contribute to Commons; see:

You might see how good (or otherwise) you phone camera is. I'm finding the Google Pixel range excellent.
